9,000 Feet in Bryce Canyon

Has anyone ever been to Bryce Canyon in Utah? Well I hadn't either until a few weeks ago. Check this out..... I now have a great appreciation for the desert. Walking amongst the hoodoo's(tall rock formations), is what I imagine another planet to be like. We(the family) also went to Zion National Park a few hours away and equally as impressive but what a find "The Spotted Dog" restaurant. I ca not tell you how great the atmosphere, service, menu, and food was. Just go if you are ever near Zion in the town of Springdale. And oh the prices were good too.

I have to show you my two youngest... Giselle 5 and Jace 3 getting along for the first time it seems. Finally they like each other, at least sometimes.

That cholesterol is not the bad boy everyone says it is. We produce cholesterol and use it for the production of bile (an essential digestive element); the creation of all cell walls; and is the basis for all steroid hormones. Some of the hormones made from cholesterol are progesterone, estrone, estradiol, estriol, testosterone, DHEA, cortisol, aldosterone, just to name a few. If our need for what cholesterol does increases, then so does cholesterol itself. That need could be fueled by inflammation, infection, trauma, increased hormone needs, stress, digestive problems, or many other problems. So why stop the messenger when it is truly not the problem. The best way to gain a handle on your cardiovascular system is to measure the amount of inflammatory markers that your body is producing. I like to use CRP-hs (C-reactive protein-highly sensitive); homocysteine; and (LpA) Lipoprotein A. These will give you a much more accurate measure of what your body is doing in the cardiovascular arena then just the Cholesterol and Trigylcerides.

Announcing a new therapy offered by Willow Creek Skin Care starting in July.

The HydrFacialMD is a unique and non-invasive skin resurfacing technology that actually gives aggressive resurfacing, wrinkle reduction, age spot removal, pore reduction, and inflammatory redness reduction. Not only is it painless but all patients who have tried it remark how good they feel when they have the treatment but also how remarkable their skin feels and looks immediately.

Edge systems have developed this technology so that no one has to suffer with the traditional painful and inflammatory peels or microderm abrasions ever again. This technology not only does peels and microderm abrasion this unique new way but also works on oily and acne prone areas. After the intial treatment an layer of antioxidants are infused deep in the tissue to leave your skin protected and soft. There is no down time, can be done even during very sunny conditions, compliments photofacials with

IPL or Laser, and is inexpensive.

NEWS FLASH – Do Not Wear Sunscreen !!!!! Only joking of course. But truthfully we need Vitamin D coming in through the skin. It is absolutely essential for the production of immune complexes. Those who do not receive it into the skin are likely to suffer more from illness and disease then those who don’t. Fortunately we do not need more then 10-15 minutes per day worth of sun. So if you are just going to the store or spending just a few minutes here and there, then do not use sunscreen. But if you are taking a long walk, hike, bike ride or spending a lot of time in the sun… Please Wear Sunscreen !!!!!!!

Amy our Naturopathic Physician Assistant par excellence, has requested that I write something about food, so did you know………..?

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved a rule that would allow 38 new non-organic ingredients to be allowed in products bearing the “USDA Organic” seal.

- Sausages, brats and breakfast links labeled as “USDA Organic” will be allowed to contain intestines from factory-farm animals raised on chemically grown feed, synthetic hormones and antibiotics.

- Anheuser Busch will be allowed to sell its “Organic Wild Hops Beer” without using any organic hops.

- Products labeled as “USDA Organic” and containing fish oil may contain toxins such as PCBs and mercury. (Note: Non-organic fish oil products have this same risk, but despite the USDA ruling, it is against the National Organic Standards to allow such toxins in organic foods.)

Foods labeled as 100% organic will still be 100% organic. This rule applies to products that are 95% organic or less.

-Announcing New Therapy Offered: Telangitron “Bore Therapy” for

telangectasia and small vascular lesions…………..

We have a new therapy for telangectasias (non-functioning small veins), and vascular lesions. It is called the “bore therapy” and we use a piece of equipment called a telangitron made by edge system. It is the most effective way that we have seen to obliterate small veins on the face and legs without pain, scarring or multiple treatments. It is highly cost effective and takes virtually no time to perform. The telangitron uses direct current so that a micro needle can penetrate the skin without pain and high frequency to remove the vein. Direct current is also used so that the micro needle is removed without trauma. There is very little inflammation post procedure and no “down time” is required. Most sessions cost $50- $100.00 and the vessels are gone forever.

And finally our August Flyer & Special
